Customer photo review of Green 8X- Ultra Performance 8 Strand

Took a friend of mine and his son fishing on Friday. Eight Arkansas blue catfish totaling 123 lb largest fish was 20 lb. Beyond braid 50 lb eight strand green 2000 yards, was highly impressive on the ambassador 6600 cbxs. Cast it extremely well and stood up to a lot of abrasion for the trash that we were fishing in. Been a power pro fan for very long time and all of my equipment for big catfish our lined with Beyond Bread now! Thanks

Beyond Braid never seems to fail in increased performance. Your 10 pound black braid cast farther than the green. makes covering water effortless.

I use nothing but Beyond Braid for my fishing. I have used it on the ocean at 300-400 feet and in boats and on the shore. It cast further and reels easier.

The braid was more than I could have imagined it to be. I was very pleased with the sensitivity and smoothness of how it cast. I dragged it through brush piles and it never frayed nor did it twist up and loop like other brands. 8X Braid is the best I've ever used and will continue to use.

I use the 30lb moss camo. Never had a problem with the line snapping. Casts far, no memory, and tough as nails. Easily stands up to the abuse of Northern Snakeheads

I bought 15# line in the past yr. I reordered I thought it was the same line it’s not. The 15# test line in the past was smooth this line feels rough when you run it through your fingers. I don’t like it how do I return it. Do you have the same line? I ordered in the past and the thousand yard spool ( green)

I received the package strong of three reels. I still have a lot left over. I already went out here to San Francisco Bay and eight does good light on the field strong on the tensile strength. That’s what I’m looking for going out tomorrow to Sausalito to give it another tossed in the wind.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Green is the do-everything low-vis color and our best seller for a reason. In clear to lightly stained water it blends into the background better than anything else we make, freshwater or salt. If you fish dark tannic water or at night, Blackout hides better. If you want to actually see your line, go Optic Orange or Yellow and run a fluorocarbon leader.

Eight strands are woven tighter and rounder, so 8X is thinner for the same pound test, slicker through the guides, quieter on the cast, and it flies farther. Four strands weave flatter and squarer, which makes 4X a little grabbier on rock and shell and easier on the wallet. Simple rule: throwing light lures on spinning gear or chasing casting distance, take 8X. Fishing heavy cover, dragging bottom, or filling several reels on a budget, 4X is the workhorse. Both use the same PE fiber and the same diameter chart.

No. This is one of our No Fade lines, which means the color is locked into the fiber instead of coated onto the surface. It does not bleed onto your hands, your rod, or your reel, and it does not wash out to gray after a season in the sun. Fading was the single most common complaint anglers had about braid, ours included, which is exactly why the No Fade series exists.

This one is offered in 8lb, 10lb, 15lb, 20lb, 30lb, 40lb, 50lb, 60lb, 80lb, 100lb. As a starting point: 8 to 15lb for trout, panfish, and finesse, 20 to 30lb for bass and all-around freshwater, 30 to 50lb for inshore snook, reds, and trout, 50 to 65lb for heavy inshore and light offshore, 80lb and up for offshore and big structure. Diameters: 8lb at 0.10mm, 10lb at 0.12mm, 15lb at 0.16mm, 20lb at 0.20mm, 30lb at 0.28mm, 40lb at 0.32mm, 50lb at 0.37mm, 60lb at 0.40mm, 80lb at 0.48mm, 100lb at 0.55mm. This one comes in 300 Yards, 500 Yards, 2000 Yards. A 300 yard spool fills one average reel. 500 yards covers one big reel or two smaller ones. The 2000 yard bulk spool is for filling several reels at once and works out to the lowest cost per yard. Braid is thinner than mono at the same rating, so most anglers step up a size from the mono they used to run and still gain casting distance.

For braid to leader, the FG knot is the strongest and thinnest and it passes through guides cleanly. A double uni with 6 to 8 wraps per side is easier on the water and holds fine under 30lb. Straight to a hook or lure, use a Palomar tied with doubled line. Wet every knot before you cinch it, because a dry knot burns and that is where most break-offs actually happen. When you spool up, keep firm tension on the line the whole way, use mono backing or a strip of tape on a bare arbor so the braid cannot slip, and stop about an eighth of an inch below the spool lip. An overfilled spool is the real cause of most wind knots people blame on the line.

Braid is slick enough to spin on a bare spool. Either lay down a short mono or fluoro backing and join it with an FG or double uni knot, or wrap a strip of electrical tape around the bare arbor first. Then spool under steady tension with the line coming off the filler spool the same direction it goes onto your reel, which is what keeps wind knots from showing up on your first cast.

Much thinner at the same strength, usually right around half the diameter. That is the whole point: you pack far more line onto the same reel, you cut through wind instead of ballooning in it, and you cast noticeably further. Exact diameters for every pound test in this line are listed in the size chart on this page.

No. Modern guide inserts handle braid without any trouble. What actually shreds line is a guide insert that is already chipped or cracked. Run a cotton swab around the inside of each guide once a season, and if it snags a fiber, replace that guide before it costs you a fish.

Not with nail clippers, and not with a knife. Braid is a PE fiber that frays and rolls away from a dull edge instead of cutting, so you end up with a mashed end that will not pass through a knot cleanly. Use a dedicated braid scissor with serrated blades for a square cut, and your knots will seat right the first time.

Braid outlasts mono by a wide margin, so most anglers get multiple seasons out of one spool. The last stretch of line takes nearly all the abuse, so before you replace the whole thing, strip off the first 20 to 30 yards and retie. When the line starts feeling fuzzy well down the spool, or you have lost enough to hurt your capacity, it is time. You can also pull the line off, reverse it end for end, and respool to get a full second life out of it.
